The final project is due at the beginning of class, Thursday December 11.
This will include:
1) A copy of your proposal (those 10 questions)
2) Your radio spot
3) Your TV spot
4) Your blog.
When you are completely finished with your TV and radio spots, I’ll show you how to export them as internet friendly files. Then you can upload them to youtube and embed them in your blog.
Students will present/discuss their campaign in class on December 11.

Next assignment.
Choose one of the two options from the handout. Make a storyboard for the commercial.
How to storyboard. Here is a template you can print out. You can draw right into the boxes. (Don’t worry about stick figure quality). Or you can use a fancy program like InDesign or Quark and use your graphic design skills/find appropriate images on the web.

For Tuesday October 28
1. Find a TV commercial that you think is good (YouTube might be the best place to start). It does not have to be a social marketing ad.
2. Write a 1-2 page paper analyzing the commercial. Who is the target audience? What is the objective? How does the commercial try to creatively achieve the objective.

We are starting our discussion of radio advertising on Tuesday. Please do the following:
1. Bring to class a recording of a radio commercial or a working URL for a commercial on the web.
2. Transcribe the commercial. (Including spoken parts, sound effects, and music).
3. Write a 1-2 page analysis of the commercial’s strategy (who is it for, what is it trying to accomplish, how does it try to meet its objective in a creative way, does it succeed?)

Answer as best you are able the “ten strategic questions” on page 8 of the social marketing basics pdf. (questions 9 & 10 are not as important as the first eight). Use citations when necessary to support your answers. Due Thursday, Sep 25.
I’ve posted both the complete pdf of social marketing basics as well as the page that has the 10 questions on WebCT. For those of you who lack access to WebCT, here’s a direct link to the pdf file.

This is the class blog. I will be posting detailed assignments here, and also posting links to your projects on the blogroll to the right (at least temporarily, I’ll keep the old links there to see what students did last year). Also, I’ve posted links to other resources you might find helpful.
